Another, very exclusive competition she entered was “Miss Earth SA 2004”. The object of this competition was saving the environment. Elizna decided to look at “saving the environment” from another angle. And the questions she asked herself were the following: Isn’t it true that we have to empower and educate our children, which is the future of our nation, to save our environment? And what is the most deadly thing to target our children today? AIDS! Who will be there for the day of tomorrow to look after our environment if the kids of today are all infected with this deadly virus?

Elizna did extensive research on a lot of aids orphanages. She decided to work with a local orphanage in Meyerton by the name of Doulos Ministries. At the orphanage Elizna painted all the hands of the kiddies and had them print it on a dress she has designed for this competition. On this dress was also the face of President Nelson Mandela, seen as the father of our nation. The top was in the shape of the red aids ribbon. Elizna was one of ten finalists nationwide; she also received the overall third prize and a special award for the story behind the dress.
